frequently asked questions

Q.
Can you tell me about your "online classes" and how they work?
A.
Absolutely! Our online classes make learning so easy for families that are unsure of how things may change in this (hopefully temporary) era of "on again, off again" classroom meeting. They are also an EXCELLENT option for families that may want to keep students home more than average for immune compromise, etc. You simply enroll your student in the online class of your choice, and pay for the class (or submit a voucher request if you will be paying for the course with charter school funding).  Once payment is final, you will be given access to the entire class online for one semester.

Depending on the specific class, some are video classes along with printable material that is unveiled weekly, or your class may grant you access to the entire semester's materials at once.  Online support is provided: either by optional zoom meetings or via email.

Q.

I don't see my charter on Edventure's list. Does that mean that Edventure does not accept payment from my school of choice?
A.
No!  It most likely means that we simply haven't had a student from your charter school enroll in our program yet this year.  Please contact us with your school's information and we will gladly discuss the options and procedures with you.

Q.
What happened to the Tuesday/Thursday all day program?
A.
Due to a change in how small businesses are allowed to legally hire and pay staff in California, as well as strong possibilities that charter schools will be required to restrict funding for programs, Edventure had to reevaluate and modify the way we are able to offer services. There will still be classes available, we are happy to offer classes in co-op settings and in other local facilities!

Q.
I don't see registration fees listed on your website.  Are there any fees in addition to the tuition?
A.
Edventure does not directly charge registration fees, however, if a co-op that we participate in charges a registration fee, it must be paid in order to enroll in those classes.

Q.
My student is enrolled in online classes. Is there a way for her to meet-up with their classmates to possibly do some of the projects together or just hang out?
A.
Of course! Many students are arranging "learning club" days. Depending on your location, a learning club may already have formed and we are happy to provide you with any contact info we have so that you may see about arranging this fun activity for your student(s). Students can get together and help each other with the class work, do their "hands on" projects as a group and develop fun friendships during a tough time in our nation's history. (These clubs are separate from the online class.)

Q.
Is Edventure a hybrid program or charter school?
A.
Edventure is neither.  We are an independent program, organized and operated by homeschooling moms with backgrounds in Early Childhood Education that have extensive experience homeschooling our own children.  Our enrichment program is open to students of most charter schools that serve El Dorado county as well as students that are homeschooled independently through no charter at all.

Q.
Are the instructors fingerprinted?
A.
Yes, all adults are fingerprinted and background checked from the DOJ (Department of Justice) via the LiveScan program.

Q.
How do I order vouchers or certificates from my charter school?
A.
We require vouchers / certificates for any charter school student that is not paying privately, prior to admittance into our programs.

Certificates must be made for the entire (or full remainder in the case of late enrollments) semester at once for each class.  You will be provided with specific information at the time of enrollment in each class.

SAFETY NOTE for in-person clubs & meetings:  We have many students with severe food allergies.  Please understand that in order to create a SAFE environment for them to eat their own food, we must follow these guidelines:
  • There is absolutely NO sharing of food, unless it is between siblings and authorized by parents.
  • NO PEANUTS OR TREENUTS in Edventure meetings, at all.  Please check your processed snack items for a note on the label that reads "may contain peanuts or treenuts".  This cannot be eaten while in Edventure programs safely.
  • Please pack non-messy foods.  We realize this is difficult to do with kids sometimes!  The importance is that some of our students have allergies to common ingredients (like wheat, rice, and dairy for example) that we do not want to ban from lunches.  However, when students eat and their food is all over their faces, hands, table, seat, and hands- well, it's is very difficult to ensure that it is not also in their neighbor's lunch.  Please pack appropriate utensils and make sure your student knows how to use them well to keep tidy, out of a love and caring for their classmates.

We've tried to include our most commonly asked questions above.  If you have a question that is not answered on our website, please do contact us.

Many options

We are currently offering many options for home educating families! Online classes (with zoom and email support), private in-home classes, as well as in-person classes in select locations!!

Multi-age learning groups

Students are divided up by individual needs, not necessarily by grade level.  Our early learners group is more project based and our established readers & writers group is literature based and project inclusive.
